FAQ - Delegation - Overall

Why is delegation important?

The $APE token is a governance token. Delegation ensures that $APE token holders who either do not wish to actively participate in governance themselves or feel they can better participate with the combined voting weight of a delegation. This removes a major financial barrier for smaller holders to get actively involved in the DAO and can balance the voting between large holders and people who may have a small amount individually, but grouped together have significant APE token holdings.

Are there any monetary incentives for being a delegate?

Anyone can create a delegation and they can take many forms from delegating to oneself, a representative delegation to a community delegation. Monetary incentives or rewards are available for delegations in the Delegate Accelerator, but overall people create delegations for the warm fuzzy feeling it gives you ;-)

How do I assign my voting power to a delegate?

Go to the delegation official page and find the individual or community you wish to represent you. You can also delegate via a partner platform of the GWG Nodeblocks.

What are the requirements for being a delegate?

Anyone can go and create a delegation. All you need is to own APE or get the support from APE holders to delegate to you. As a Representative delegation, you just need to explain why you are suitable to represent them and how you plan to vote on AIPs. However, being part of the Delegate Accelerator Initiative requires specific actions to be able to apply.

How do I become a delegate?

An ApeCoin DAO delegate is anyone that a delegator has delegated APE voting rights to. So to become a delegate, you can either hold APE or get someone to delegate to you.

Can I delegate my voting power to more than one delegate?

Right now, you voting power can only be given to one delegate. However, if you split your APE holdings in more than one wallet you can select a delegate for each wallet.
